Communities with unstaffed gates or entry kiosks can allow entry using a PIN code typed on the kiosk keypad. There are two kinds of PINs: a personal PIN for an individual guest or vendor, and a shared Property PIN for your whole property. This guide explains both.
PIN codes are enabled by your community’s management. If you don’t see the PIN options described here, contact your community’s management office.
PIN Codes for Guests and Vendors
When you add or edit a guest or vendor, you can give them their own entry PIN:
- In the guest or vendor form, find the Access Controls options and check Enable kiosk pin access
- A secure PIN is generated automatically and displayed on screen
- Use Regenerate to replace it with a new random PIN, or Set Custom PIN to choose your own
- Save the guest, then share the PIN with them directly (for example by text message)
Custom PINs must be 4–12 digits, and easily guessed codes (like "1234" or repeated digits) are not accepted. Each PIN must be unique within your community.
The Property PIN
Some communities also allow a single shared PIN for your whole property. You’ll find it on your Property page under the PIN tab, in the Property Kiosk PIN card.
- Enable it with the switch — you can choose Generate Random or Set Custom when turning it on
- Regenerate replaces the PIN — the old PIN stops working immediately
- Set Custom PIN lets you choose your own code
- Turning the PIN off revokes access for anyone using it — you can re-enable it later with a new PIN
The PIN Usage History section below the card shows every entry made with your Property PIN.
Anyone who has the Property PIN can enter your property, so share it carefully and regenerate it from time to time.
Using a PIN at the Gate
- At the kiosk, your visitor taps Pin Code on the entry screen
- They type the PIN on the keypad and submit it
- When the PIN is valid, the kiosk shows Access Granted and the gate opens
Repeated wrong attempts temporarily lock the keypad, so make sure your visitor has the exact code.
