How to Add and Manage Vehicles in Watchtower

Vehicle registration in Watchtower links cars, trucks or golf carts to specific residents. Having accurate vehicle information enables gate attendants and automated license plate readers to verify who is entering the community. This guide covers adding new vehicles, updating details and deleting old vehicles.

1 – Access the Vehicles Tab

  1. Log in to
    mywatchtower.app
    and select your property.

  2. Click the Vehicles tab. You’ll see all vehicles currently associated with your property.

2 – Add a New Vehicle

  1. Click Add Vehicle.

  2. Fill out the vehicle information:

    • Year, Make and Model – Enter the full vehicle description (e.g., 2022 Toyota Camry). This helps guards identify the vehicle at a glance.

    • Color – Optional but useful for recognition.

    • License Plate – Enter the full license plate number. Accurate plates are essential for automatic Licence Plate Reading (LPR) systems to grant entry.

    • State/Province – Select the state that issued the plate.

    • Owner (User) – Choose which resident owns or primarily uses the vehicle. If the user is not yet created, you can add them first (see “How to update your property’s resident list”).

    • Notes – Any additional comments, such as parking spot or vehicle type (e.g., golf cart).

  3. Click Save to register the vehicle. It will appear in the list and be recognized at the gate.

3 – Assigning Vehicle Credentials

Some communities issue physical or virtual credentials to open gates automatically. After adding a vehicle, you can create a Vehicle Credential (like a barcode or RFID tag) to place on the windshield:

  1. Navigate to the Credentials tab.

  2. Select Add Credential

  3. Find the Resident or Guest/Vendor

  4. Locate the vehicle to which the credential is to be assigned, then click next.

  5. Choose the credential type (e.g., 26‑bit barcode, RFID tag) and assign it to the vehicle. Scan or enter the tag number as directed.

  6. Verify the data is correct and Click Save. The vehicle is now paired with the credential; the gate reader will scan it to grant entry.

4 – Editing or Deleting Vehicles

  • Editing – Click the Edit icon next to a vehicle to update information (e.g., new license plate or color).

  • Deleting – If you sell or dispose of a vehicle, click Delete. Confirm the deletion; the vehicle will be removed from your list and any associated credentials will be voided.

Keeping your vehicle list current helps your community’s access control systems work smoothly. Always update license plates promptly to ensure license plate readers recognize your vehicle at the gate.
